Desloratadine is a fairly non-sedating second generation antihistamine that promises to relieve the symptoms of seasonal as well as perennial allergic rhinitis. In a recent report published in the journal Allergy, desloratadine was more effective in alleviating runny nose and nasal congestion. The report was the outcome of a study in which desloratadine was administered to a group of people and their experiences where recorded over a 28-day trial period. The drug offers rapid relief by acting faster than its predecessors. While the drug is non-sedating it may still cause some side effects like fatigue, dry mouth, muscle pain, etc.
