Home remedy for indigestion

After a heavy meal in a merry party indigestion could spoil the beautiful day for you. Especially in monsoon season digestive disorders are common. Also the aging process puts a threshold on your digestive capability and there is a need for eating smart on older people. There are some home solutions available to ease indigestion and including them in our meal is imperative. Certain spices and herbs stimulate the secretion of digestive and gastric juices in the stomach. Ginger is the first thing that comes to the mind that aids in digestion. Ginger contains gingerol which is used for treating nausea and diarrhea. Have you seen those fragrant little spices on every reception module at hotels and marriage parties which look just like plumped up cumin seeds? They are nothing but fennel seeds and just pick a few of them and chew for a refreshing experience. Fennel (Saunf) is a digestive herb which contains the anti-flatulent aspartic acid.

Traditionally in south India yoghurt is served as the final course with rice because it has the ability to mollify the gut and disinfect the stomach. Mint is a magical herb that cures indigestion, flatulence, nausea and headaches. Mint can be consumed in the form of chutney, tea, salad, etc. Bay leaves are often included in biryani not just for fragrance but also for easing digestion. Bay leaves are useful in detoxifying the digestive system. Fenugreek is an excellent remedy for constipation, flatulence and acid reflux. They don't taste great but they are extremely healthy.
